Camping in Sun Valley: Labor Day Weekend

Over Labor Day weekend we went camping in Sun Valley with Grandma and Papa Halladay, and Scot and Jenn and family. We camped right on the Bigwood River, which provided lots of entertainment.

The morning after we arrived, Mark, Jenn, and I took the kids on a "little" hike up a nearby hill. Needless to say, it was a little steeper than it looked. We had to cross the river right by our camp ground, to start the hike. By the way, the river was FREEZING!! Here are all the kids putting their shoes back on after crossing the river!
The kids all found hiking sticks, and we were off!

We're going "THERE" All the kids and Mark pointing at the hill we were climbing.

Hi, ho, Hi ho, it's up the hill we go.....

This is before we got to the really steep stuff.

This was pretty steep! There were tons of sage brush and prickly, stickery bushes to forage through. Did I mention there was NO trail? By the time we returned to camp, everyone had scratches and cuts all over their legs.

Jenn had to pull Samy up the really steep stuff. I couldn't have pulled ANYONE besides myself. I was huffing and puffing....

Lexy, Ryann and Athena at the top of our little hill!

Tren, Samy, and Lexy

Ryann and Athena

It was such a hot day! We packed a lunch and found this little grove of trees to eat lunch under!

Mommy and Rye!

After the hike, the kids refreshed themselves in the river by camp! It was SO cold! No-one would go under the water except Bailey and Lexy! Brave girls!

Bailey Moo!

Tren and Athena hanging out talking and being goofy!

Cute girls!

Cooper and Jesse showing their BIG muscles!

Cooper and Jesse had so much fun together.

Bailey and all the kids had fun on this old tree that was in the water!

Here is Lexy going under the water!

Bailey did it too. What a tough little cookie! Not even the big brave boys would go under this cold water!

Bailey and Jesse getting warm.

Uncle Scot brought his horses, so the next day the kids did some horseback riding! Here is Ryann with Wendy.

This is Tren riding Wendy.

Cooper and Jesse on Clementine!

Bailey rode all alone on Clementine!

Here is our cute little tent trailer that we slept in! It looks small, but can, if need be, sleep all 6 of us. Tren and Ryann slept in Scot and Jenn's tent with the cousins!

Three cute girls by the river!

Uncle Scot throwing one cute girl in the river! ( Not really!)

Arrgh matey's! Pirates we be!

Later that night, we drove up the road to the swimming hole. It's heated geothermally, so it was toasty warm!

Everyone being silly!

Ryann, Lexy and Jesse, with Coop in the back. It was so nice to get warm after playing in the cold river!

On our way back to camp from the swimming hole, Tren took some scenery shots! I think they turned out really good!

Each night we sat around the camp fire and roasted marshmallows and talked until all hours of the night!

When Abby didn't want to listen to you, she put her hands over ears! She's too cute!

Ryann wanted to bring a rope and her volleyball camping so she and Lexy could play volleyball! This is a proud mother moment for me!

Pretty good form! Notice the straight arms and fierce concentration!

We also brought bikes, and the kids rode all over.

Show-offs!

We had such a great weekend with family! Now it's back to school, football, soccer, and BIRTHDAY"S! Tren's actual birthday is Sept. 5th. He spent it traveling, on our way up camping. We will celebrate officially when we get home!

Kindergarten Preview and The First Day Of School!

Wow! I can't believe it, Bailey and Cooper are starting Kindergarten! They are so excited. Tonight they get to go to the school and meet their teacher and do some fun projects.

Here they are coloring and cutting out hats that say "I am in Kindergarten!"
They go to Reed Elementary and have Mrs. Ryan for their teacher this year!

Tren is starting 4th grade! I can't believe how big he is getting! He is so excited to be in Miss Cunningham's class again. He just loves her and had such a great year last year. He is THRILLED that she moved up to 4th grade.

Ryann is in 2nd grade! She is growing up way too fast! Her teacher is Miss Olson. She loves school and is ready to start the school year!

The two fingers are for 2nd grade...not peace! Note the cute plaid skirt, leggings, and black tennis shoes. Ryann is my fashion conscious, always cute and in style child!

Here is Bailey on her first day of Kindergarten! Her and Cooper started one day after Tren and Ryann. They go to school Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Friday. (This is called the TooTH schedule) Instead of a half day like normal kindergarten, they go full days on the days they are there.

Coop is ready to go!

My cute kindergartner's!

All the kids on the twins first day of school!

Tren and Ryann

Bailey and Cooper learning the ropes! They had to learn where to line up and put their backpacks! Hard stuff for kindergartner's!

Their teacher is Mrs. Ryan! She was Ryann's teacher also, and we just love her. The twins are excited and lucky to have such a great teacher!

There they go! I got a little emotional watching my babies go into class! I can't believe they are this big and starting school!

After school! Everyone had a good day and survived! I think they are ready to be home now! School is stressful!
